Mathematics
Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice states students should...
- Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them
- Reason abstractly and quantitatively
- Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
- Model with mathematics
- Use appropriate tools strategically
- Attend to precision
- Look for and make use of structure
- Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning
In addition, the following are tips for all Maple math students:
- improper fractions should be used, unless otherwise stated
- steps should be shown vertically, not horizontally; students should work "downwards"
- exact solutions, unless otherwise stated
- show mathematical reasoning by writing down work/steps
- use horizontal fraction bar (vinculum) and not a slanted one
- Sixth Grade: Elizabeth Safranek, Kelli Stiltz, Phyllis Tsevis, Lindsay Huegelmann
