8th-Grade Information

High School Student Registration Process

  • Counselors from GBS and GBN visit students to discuss upcoming registration - Winter, 2026 (date pending)

Students will meet with their counselors and register for classes. Parents will receive a copy of the high school course recommendations for selection.

Presidential Academic Program

  • Evening Recognition Program -  Thursday, April 30, 2026, 7:00 p.m.

Maple recognizes 8th-grade students who have qualified for the President’s Award for Educational Excellence. The program is designed to acknowledge students who have attained a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 for grades six, seven, and the first and second trimesters of 8th grade and an average score of 750 on the Math and Reading Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) assessments through 7th grade.

Graduation

  • Graduation Party -  May 28, 2026, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Graduation Practices - June 1, 2026, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. @ Maple AND June 2, 2026, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. @ GBN
  • Graduation Ceremony - June 2, 2026, 6:00 p.m. @ Glenbrook North High School

OTHER HIGH SCHOOL FACILITATED EVENTS (Dates and details will be communicated by the high school)

  • High School Incoming Freshman Curriculum Night

This evening is dedicated to sharing information about the curriculum for each high school and subject area. The instructional supervisors at the high school will present a synopsis of their programs from a student's freshman to senior year in high school. Questions about credits and course sequences will be answered. Parents and students may attend these meetings.

  • Incoming Freshman Activity/Athletics Night

The Incoming Freshman Activity/Athletics Night has traditionally provided information for parents and students to help them discover the many activities offered at the high schools. Activity sponsors will be available to answer questions.
